Guidance
You will be required to submit information as part of the referral.
We recommend you gather the information in advance, or have access to staff who can provide it.
To support you in completing the referral, we have published an overview of the information required.
Eligibility
Referrals can only be accepted for children and young people who are Birmingham residents. For children and young people living in other local authority areas, seek support through the appropriate local authority.
Medical professional referrals can only be made by medical professionals. If you are not a medical professional but working with a child or young person who you think may require educational support from Birmingham City Council, you should contact their main school to discuss your concerns.
Consent
You must inform parents / carers that a referral is going to be made.聽They must understand the details will be shared with other services - including education, health and care - as part of the process to determine any necessary Section 19 package of support.
Use of data
The information that you provide to us will be used to consider your referral and for subsequent administration.
It may also be used for management information and statistics to assess the service and measure future provisions.
