Introduction and guidance
We are excited to announce that the Early Years and Childcare team have launched the Impulse NEXUS Provider Portal.
This new platform, introduced on Thursday 20 March 2025, will enable us to:
- strengthen the information that we collect from early years providers
- improve the information that we can provide to parents and third parties when they are looking for childcare options
- contact you more efficiently
What are the benefits of the Nexus Provider Portal?
Providers using the Nexus Provider Portal can:
- update contact information
- provide us with the details of all the staff that work at your setting(s)
- provide us with named contacts in your organisation to receive information - this could be:
- an additional main contact
- a finance contact
- an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) contact
- or an Out of School Club contact
- receive notes of visit and Focused Improvement Plans (FIP) directly through the portal, instead of email
- track FIP actions and download visit reports for your records
Guidance for EEE Impulse NEXUS Users
As a provider who is registered to deliver Early Education Entitlement (EEE) places with Birmingham City Council, you are required to submit information termly and this portal enables that data collection.
It is important to note that:
- the Nexus Provider Portal does not replace the existing EEE portal used for submitting funding claims
- providers can update their named EEE contact mid-term without needing to send email forms
- notes of visit and FIP reports will no longer be sent via email — ensure you arrange appropriate portal access
You should have received an email with instructions regarding registration. If you have not received this advice about registration or have any other queries, then contact us by email at familyinformation@birmingham.gov.uk.
