Cost and duration of pavement licences
Following the changes in the law on 31 March 2024, Birmingham City Council fees are as follows:

|---|---|
| For a new application or if a licence has expired | £500 |
| To renew or change an existing licence | £350 |
An application is a renewal application if all of the following apply:
- it is made by a person who already holds a pavement licence (old type or current)
- it is for the premises to which the existing licence relates
- it is for a licence which will begin on the expiry of the existing licence and on the same terms.
Renewal licences can be applied for up to 2 months before the existing licence expires.
Each pavement licence, if granted, will last for 1 year.
