Santa Claus and the stockings (1904)
-
-
When morning, like a red rose, beamed
Above the frozen snow,
They woke and wondered had they dreamed
Their stockings answered, No!For bulging out from toe to where
The garter should go round,
With treasures rare of earth and air
Both flowing full are found. They laughed, and in their childish glee
They sang this little song:
"Oh! Santa Claus, at last we see
Why stockings are so long!"Location: Boyle, William (1904) Christmas at the Zoo. London: Methuan & Co. Parker Collection Ap087.1/1904
